Proposed Apartment Development

By now, some of you have heard about a proposed apartment development being considered on the north side of Bloomingdale Avenue, across from Publix (and behind Albertson's).  Several years ago, a developer attempted to rezone the property to allow for the construction of a big box retail center (rumored to be Lowe's), this was shot down by the County after a very organized Community Group called VOICE joined the surrounding neighborhoods together (including Twin Lakes) to fight the development.  This was NOT an appropriate use for that site.

Recently, a new developer is looking at the land and is considering developing a high end apartment complex.  The developer's name is Crosland.  At our Board Meeting on November 10th, after receiving requests from VOICE to once again join their fight in opposing this new development, the Board of Directors were unanimous is deciding NOT to fight the development.  Seeing a multi-family, residential development as an appropriate use for the property and a good transition from the retail center along Lithia Pinecrest Road (Albertson's) and the single family residents to the north and east of the site (Buckhorn).

The Twin Lake Board decided to not support or oppose the project, rather we want educate you, our residents, and let you decide if you want to support or oppose or remain neutral on the project.  To help provide you with information, we asked the developer, Crosland, to speak at our Board meeting on December 6th where they presented their project and answered questions from the Board and the residents present.

Below are three documents that relate to this project that will give you more information and allow you to decide:

  1. VOICE Letter in opposition (this was hand distributed by VOICE to you already)
  2. CROSLAND Info packet and link for more information on their project www.brandonluxuryapartments.com
  3. Hillsborough County Notice of Public Hearing for the Planning Commission for a Comprehensive Plan Change (1/14/08)
